Frequently asked questions
Kinusaiga is a captivating Japanese fiber art technique, often called “paint by fabric.” Instead of paint, you use small fabric pieces, tucking them into hand-carved grooves on a foam board to craft detailed, textured images—no sewing required! Originating in Japan’s Edo period as a way to reuse kimono scraps, Kinusaiga now combines traditional artistry with modern design, turning fabric into stunning, mosaic-like masterpieces.
